YOUR TASKS

The JANE-2 project aims at creating Networks of Expertise (NoE) for cancer in Europe, by providing services to the European cancer community. The NoE on 'Hi-tech medical resources' is divided into seven specific domains, among which is ‘Innovative radiotherapies’. Led by CNAO and Centre Léon Bérard, its main objectives are: to establish a European network to promote knowledge exchange and training in innovative radiotherapy; support centers in the timely integration of radiotherapy innovations; identify and overcome adoption barriers; define a European roadmap for timely implementation to reduce the gap between invention and implementation; and engage advocacy groups to enhance awareness of the value and impact of RT innovation.

The Value-Based Radiation Oncology (VBRO) project of the ESTRO (European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology) works towards a framework supporting correct appraisal of innovative radiotherapy interventions, with the aim to better assess the value and promote the adoption of (innovative) radiation treatments.

The actual position aims at bridging the gap between both, focusing on the following tasks:

  1. supporting the analysis and interpretation of JANE-2 survey results;
  2. appraising and field-testing of emerging radiotherapy technologies using the VBRO framework, in collaboration with centres and experts across Europe.
  3. contributing to the drafting of domain deliverables, position papers, and scientific publications, with a focus on innovation assessment, accessibility, and affordability of advanced radiotherapy technologies;
  4. participating in the development of recommendations and roadmaps for the equitable implementation of radiotherapy innovations across Europe;
  5. actively engaging in discussions within JANE-2, providing expert feedback and value-based perspectives on innovation adoption

The expert will be directly involved in the work of the ‘Innovative Radiotherapies’ domain of JANE-2 and in the preparation of its deliverables. She will include the concepts of VBRO in the work undertaken. In addition, she/he will collaborate in the overall work of the NoE and promote integration with other domains (such as radiomics) as well as with other NoEs.
