The Stuttgart Media University (HdM) educates and trains media specialists for companies, organisations and the public sector. We currently offer 30 accredited Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes with attractive study options for more than 5.000 students. We are looking for a Professor for our Bachelor's degree programme Advertising and Market Communication, based in the Faculty of Electronic Media:
commencing in winter semester 2020/21 Grade W3,
The advertised professorship for Strategic Communication and Branding will represent the subject field of strategic communication and branding in its entire breadth, both through profound theoretical knowledge and practice-oriented approach. In particular, this includes theory and practice of strategic communication, theory and practice of branding, brand management, advertising communication, planning, online communication, and communication sciences.
These areas should be put into context of mass communication and advertising communication measures, both in theory and in practice. We will expect the postholder to teach basic level courses and modules in the degree programme Advertising and Market Communication.
W3 - Additional tasks:
The future postholder is expected to continuously work on developing both teaching and research activities in the following area/s:
Scientific analysis of the subject area in question, especially in the field of strategic communication and branding
We are looking for an outstanding and committed personality who convincingly represents their area of expertise both in theory and in practice. In addition to an applicable academic degree, a doctorate in a relevant discipline, and proven pedagogical aptitude, the candidate will also be able to present outcomes of an appropriate level of research activities expected from a W3 professorship, such as relevant and in-depth publications and academic work in the fields of strategic communication, branding, brand management and advertising. Additionally to above research qualifications, you should ideally also have relevant professional leadership experience in terms of conceptual, planning, and organisational tasks in the field in question.
You enjoy inspiring young people for the branch and its opportunities. Teaching in English comes naturally to you, and you have a keen interest in international teaching/research collaborations as well as in networking.
In addition to teaching and research activities, we expect commitment to the further development of the degree course and to the academic administration of the university.
