The Platform & Operations Efficiency Team (POET) has responsibility to drive speed of learning in imec’s 200 & 300mm Si pathfinding and platformization activities and to create and maintain stable modules and flows. This needs to happen for imec’s research test vehicles and critical customer projects in many interesting fields like logic, memory, interconnect, 3D, Si photonics, sensors, MEMS and life science applications.

The Operations Efficiency group (OpEff) is responsible for speed of learning at imec. Tactically, this means managing daily lot operations, priorities, and logistical functions for the collective R&D teams. It also means working to create new solutions to old problems, changing the business processes of imec, setting new ways of work and goals, and helping the teams adapt. Through data and inspiration, collaborate with stakeholders to increase the functional speed in all aspects possible.

What you will do

  • This position will focus on operations and efficiency for imec, as opposed to a research role. 
  • Coordinate across research departments and research programs within imec for daily lot operations, priorities, and logistical functions for the collective R&D teams.   
  • Work closely with Fab Operations to ensure smooth execution of research needs and appropriate feedback from research for Fab needs. 
  • Support quarterly and annual capacity planning processes, ensure communication across the involved parties. 
  • Analyse data from the research and fab functions, define opportunities to make dramatic improvements.  Understand the complex relationships involved, propose a way to make progress through procedure / process / habit changes. Work with department management to execute these after they are aligned with corporate approval. 
  • Work across product and responsibility matrix organization at imec at a broad level, to ensure the projects are supported and alignment is maintained from process and fab teams, to ensure success of the projects. 
  • Onsite presence in average 4 days per week.

Who you are

  • You have obtained a Bachelor’s degree.  Masters, or Ph.D. holders will be considered. 
  • You have minimum of 1-3 years experience working in an operations role in an R&D fab, a development fab, or a production fab. 
  • Software skills for report generation and modification, using PowerBI and MS Office 365 tools is a plus. 
  • High energy, enthusiastic person, with a positive and determined approach to problem solving, with the capability to drive to success. 
  • You understand the need for some routine tasks, and can continuously execute them well as part of your daily role. 
  • Skilled at working across organizational boundaries and handling conflicting priorities. Excellent communication skills are essential.  
  • You like taking initiative, you are persuasive and bold, while keeping a constructive attitude.  
  • You have strong English communication skills to work successfully in an internationally dynamic team environment. 
  • Please note that this position is based in Leuven, Belgium. You either live in Belgium or are willing to relocate. Relocation support is provided by imec.
