Call for Fellows

Do you want to advance your career as a researcher in Sustainable Digital Transformation and have access to top class training and development opportunities? Have you completed a PhD and would you like to continue your research at a postdoctoral level? This would be a great opportunity for you to become a leader in Sustainable Digital Transformation and help merge the key challenges of the green and digital transition through 2-year, interdisciplinary and intersectoral fellowships.

DIGI+ is a European research initiative to train and develop 20 high-potential and excellent postdoctoral researchers (PRs) with the skills needed to become future leaders and will drive the digital transformation for the next decade with the ambition to establish a sustainable society.

Participation in DIGI+ calls offers candidates several unique benefits:

The DIGI+ Programme is led by Maynooth University and will offer 20 prestigious, two-year Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) fellowships across two calls over a 60-month period. DIGI+ fellowships are offered to both junior (Level 1) and more experienced (Level 2) Postdoctoral Researchers. They will be offered in the 4 DIGI+ research themes:

  1. Innovative Business Models and Data Ecosystems
  2. Digital Culture and Skills
  3. Data Governance
  4. Innovative Digital Technologies and Adoption aligned with the EU sustainable development goals

DIGI+ will impact on research, policy, standards and Digital skills. DIGI+ fellows will be able to convert knowledge and ideas to drive the digital transformation for economic and social benefit, with sustainability a key parameter.

DIGI+ research helps to establish a set of innovative, multidisciplinary Digital Transformation Paths supporting the EU sustainability goals and help forming sustainable, net-zero economies, a key aim within the EU for the next decade.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Have a Doctoral degree; 
  • Be of any nationality and gender;
  • Be a researcher with career breaks or;
  • Be a researcher at Risk (Researcher displaced by conflict);
  • NOT have resided or carried out their main activity (work or study) in the Republic of Ireland for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to call deadline (23rd August 2024)

Application Process:

  • Each applicant may submit one application per call. Resubmissions for subsequent calls are encouraged;
  • Go on to the DIGI+ website (https://digipluscofund.eu/) and choose a supervisor from the list and present your project proposal to him/her;
  • Develop your proposal with the help of your supervisor;
  • Download the templates provided on the DIGI+ website and upload PDF files of parts A, B, C and D (more instructions on the Guide for Applicants);
  • Submit your application on the DIGI+ website by 23d August 2024 @5pm Irish Time.

Benefits

DIGI+ Fellows will be offered fixed-term or specific purpose Research Fellow employment contracts from the host institution of their supervisor for the duration of the fellowship.

  • Living Allowance:  €43,202 per year (Level 1), €56,938 (Level 2)[1]
  • Family Allowance:  €7,131.92 per year*
  • Fellows will receive management and technical support

The total gross salary awarded to fellows will be €43,202 per annum (for fellows with less that 4 years post-PhD research experience) and €56,938 per annum (for fellows with more that 4 years post-PhD research experience). For those fellows who qualify for a family allowance, an additional €7,131.92 will be added to their gross salary per annum.
