The Division of Clinical Geriatrics, with over 100 employees and affiliated researchers, is located both in Neo Campus Flemingsberg and in the Q-house in Solna. We conduct both research with a focus on cognitive impairment, dementia and other age-related diseases as well as geriatric education. Our research is performed in a multi-faceted international collaboration with leading universities and clinics worldwide. The research is clinically oriented with an emphasis on diagnosis, prevention and treatment. The division works closely with the Medical Unit for Aging within the Theme of Inflammation and Aging at Karolinska University Hospital.
The subject of neuropsychology studies the relationships between human behavior and brain function. The position focuses on cognition and brain imaging techniques in neurodegenerative diseases and includes research and education on the underlying causes and clinical picture of neurodegenerative diseases. The research is conducted with a translational approach that includes neuropathology, biochemical biomarkers, brain imaging techniques and cognitive tests.
We are looking for someone who has extensive knowledge in neuropsychology, including cognition and brain imaging. For this position we have identified a need to expand our research within the dementia subcategories. You will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research activities, conceptually as well as methodologically. Teaching assignments at, for example, advanced- and doctoral education levels as well as supervision of master’s students and doctoral students are included.
To be eligible for an employment as Senior Lecturer with focus on research, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated very good pedagogical skills and excellent scientific skills. The eligibility requirements are described in the instructions for the Appointment Procedure for teachers at Karolinska Institutet.
It is a requirement that you have completed 10 weeks of courses on teaching in higher education, as indicated in the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institution. If you lack such education at the time of employment, you must undergo such education during the first two years of employment.
The Senior Lectureship has a focus on research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: scientific skills (3), pedagogical skills (2), leadership and collaboration skills (2).
