Subject description
The subject includes the development, analysis and implementation of algorithms and methods for numerical computation.
Duties
The position includes research and teaching in the subject area. The associate professor is expected to have independent research activities, actively seek research funding, supervise doctoral students and contribute to the development of the subject overall. The teaching applies to all levels, namely undergraduate courses, advanced courses, and doctoral courses in numerical analysis as well as supervision of bachelor's and master's degree theses. Some administrative tasks may also be included. The associate professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years. If necessary, a language plan will be devised at time of employment.
Eligibility
Those eligible to be employed as associate professor are persons who have:
completed a doctoral degree or possess equivalent scientific expertise or some other professional expertise that is of relevance to the subject content of the employment and the duties that are required of the employment, and
demonstrated pedagogical expertise.
Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria for appointment as an associate professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, section 1.2., applies in relation to the given employment profile.
Of highest importance is that the applicant has
scientific expertise in the subject area, e.g., demonstrated by publications in high-quality international journals.
pedagogical expertise and experience in teaching and advising at the undergraduate and/or advanced level within the subject area or mathematics in a broader sense.
Of second highest importance that the applicant has
the ability to apply for, obtain funding for, and conduct research projects.
the ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
the knowledge and experience required to teach courses in high-performance computing.
It is also important that the applicant has
the ability to cooperate with the outside community for mutual exchange and having acted to ensure that the knowledge and skills found at the university benefit society.
