The French literature department at KU Leuven is hiring a part-time (25%) post-doctoral assistant as from October 1, 2025. The team is responsible for all courses on French literature, on a Bachelor’s and Master’s level.
Vous êtes titulaire d'un doctorat en littérature française et vous souhaitez élargir votre expérience de recherche et acquérir plus d'expérience dans l'enseignement universitaire, tout en collaborant avec une équipe dynamique ? Le département de littérature française de la KU Leuven recrute un(e) assistant(e) post-doctoral(e) à temps partiel (25 %) à partir du 1er octobre 2025. L'équipe est responsable de tous les cours de littérature française, au niveau du Bachelor et du Master.
Responsibilities
- You will be asked to teach a series of reading seminars and classes on French literature, with a specific focus on literature on the 19th, 20th and 21st century (on both our campuses in Leuven and Kortrijk). You will also be asked to contribute to the course of Édition critique (Bachelor 3) and Littérature francophone moderne (Master).
- You will be asked to (co-)supervise bachelor's and master’s theses.
- As part of your appointment, you will be expected to conduct research on 19th, 20th and 21st century literature, in collaboration with other researchers from the French literature department.
- You will be actively involved in developing and organizing didactic and cultural events (e.g. the welcome and orientation activities for the new students and the coordination of the student blog, the organization of field trips in Belgium and France).).
- Vous enseignerez une série de séminaires de lecture et de cours sur la littérature française, avec un accent particulier sur la littérature des 19e, 20e et 21e siècles (à Leuven et à Courtrai) et contribuerez à la coordination du cours d'Édition critique (Bachelor 3) et de Littérature francophone moderne (Master).
- Vous (co-)dirigerez des mémoires de bachelor et de master.
- Vous effectuez des recherches sur la littérature des XIXe, XXe et XXIe siècles, en collaboration avec d'autres chercheurs du département de littérature française.
- Vous participerez activement à l'élaboration et à l'organisation d'événements didactiques et culturels proposés par la formation (tels que les cours d’accueil des nouveaux étudiants, le blog des étudiants...).
Profile
- You hold a doctoral degree in French literature.
- Teaching experience (at least at a basic level) at university level is highly recommended.
- You are proficient in French (native or near-native).
- You are a flexible and communicative team player and an enthusiastic ambassador of French literature and culture.
- Vous êtes titulaire d'un doctorat en littérature française.
- Une expérience d'enseignement (de base) au niveau universitaire est fortement recommandée.
- Vous maîtrisez le français (langue maternelle ou quasi maternelle).
- Vous êtes flexible et communicatif, et vous êtes un ambassadeur enthousiaste de la littérature et de la culture françaises.
Offer
We offer a part-time (25%) position at postdoctoral level (doctoral assistant, scale 44) for three years, with the perspective of prolongation with three years upon positive evaluation.
You will become a member of a dynamic team that provides hands-on guidance.
Nous proposons un contrat de docteur-assistant (à 25 %) pour trois ans, avec la perspective d'une prolongation de trois ans en cas d'évaluation positive. Ce poste est lié à un barème 44.
