The Clinical Psychology Research Unit conducts research into (a) processes involved in the development and course of psychological problems and psychopathology, and (b) the development of assessment and intervention methods. The Research Unit shares responsibility for the adult and older adult clinical psychology, and child and adolescent clinical psychology specialisations within the Master of Psychology programme. The group consists of seven senior academic staff members, as well as several postdoctoral researchers, doctoral researchers and teaching assistants.

Responsibilities

In collaboration with Professor Siebrecht Vanhooren, you will conduct research on existential empathy and other experiential-existential interventions and existential-humanistic themes across a range of clinical settings. You will contribute to the preparation and submission of research proposals and to securing research funding. You will supervise master's theses within this specific research domain.
In collaboration with the members of the teaching team for Counselling in Existential Well-Being and the MOOC Existential Well-Being Counselling, you will contribute to updating this MOOC and developing an international training programme in experiential-existential psychotherapy and counselling. In collaboration with the members of another teaching team, you will teach and coordinate the course Psychological Basic Skills for Conversation and Guidance (B-KUL-P0V87A).

Profile

  • You hold a doctoral degree in clinical psychology.
  • You are a recognised psychotherapist and have completed additional training in existential psychotherapy and experiential methods such as focusing.
  • You have demonstrable teaching skills and a strong affinity with clinical psychology practice.
  • You have demonstrable experience in teaching basic psychological skills.
  • You have extensive research experience in existential empathy and therapy.
  • You are able to work independently while also collaborating closely and effectively with the team in which you work.

Offer

We offer a 30% part-time appointment for a period of three years, renewable once. Remuneration will be based on salary scale 44.
