The Experimental Otolaryngology research group (Department of Neuroscience) conducts research on hearing, ranging from fundamental research to rehabilitation techniques such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, and auditory training. The group comprises approximately 50 researchers from various disciplines. The laboratories are located on the Gasthuisberg campus. The research group collaborates closely with the Multidisciplinary Center for Speech Therapy and Audiology (MUCLA) at University Hospitals Leuven

Project

We are seeking a researcher interested in optimizing hearing care for children and adults with cochlear implants and/or hearing aids. The research project includes implementing and evaluating measurement methods in the clinic to gain a better understanding of the capabilities and barriers faced by individuals with hearing loss. The benefit of binaural auditory training will also be researched.

Profile

You have a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiological Sciences (at least Distinction)

• You have a strong interest in hearing (guidance) and scientific research

• You speak Dutch and are willing to monitor children and adults with cochlear implants at MUCLA/UZ Leuven and do some clinical tasks (in Dutch)

• You have a strong affinity for technical aspects (APEX) and are willing to participate in the development of setups

• You are an excellent collaborator and communicator

• You are eager to learn and want to immerse yourself in new technologies and scientific developments

• You can work independently on projects and manage your own tasks and deadlines
