We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague for the role of research support professional supporting our researchers and specifically the research data management in our faculty. As a data steward you work to bring order and improve the quality of data and information within our organization. You will become part of the team at the department of Information management. You play an important role in shaping the support for research data management and guiding all the data management related processes to run smoothly within our faculty.

What you will do

  • You advise on research data management for collecting, filing, archiving and publication of data.
  • You review data management plans of researchers and identify potential concerns regarding information security and privacy.
  • You support researchers with structuring and depositing of datasets.
  • You contribute to projects within the Information management department related to hardware, software and processes.
  • You help with creating awareness campaigns and able to give presentations and training to employees.

The mission of the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs (FGGA) is contributing to society. The faculty does this through high-quality interdisciplinary education and (new) scientific knowledge. You will work at the department of Information Management. Our department works on having all data and ICT-related processes and procedures running smoothly and contributes to privacy protection and securing all data within our faculty.

What you bring
In this team, we are looking for someone who can work independently. Every job is different, so in the beginning we will devote attention to your onboarding. This position is a good fit for you if you recognize yourself in the following:

  • You have a university bachelor's degree or master’s degree.
  • You are interested and knowledgeable about research data management in the field of social sciences.
  • You have experience completing, reviewing, or advising data management plans.
  • You can identify potential privacy, security, and/or ethical considerations for a research project or data set.
  • You are curious about how data can be stored and shared with collaborators to enable high-quality research.
  • You can work independently, are proactive and happy to get started with new ideas and initiatives.
  • You want to develop yourself as data steward and contribute to projects within the Information management department.

We also offer:

  • An temporary employment contract for the duration of 12 months without the prospect regarding permanent employment. This contract falls under the CLA of Dutch Universities;
  • A salary of a minimum of € 3.537,- and a maximum of € 4.860,- gross per month, based on a full-time appointment (38 hours) (scale 9).
  • A holiday allowance (8%), an end-of-year bonus (8,3%), and an attractive pension scheme at ABP;
  • Full reimbursement of public transport commuting costs for home-to-work travel;
  • Flexible working hours: as a standard, you are entitled to a minimum of 29 leave days on the basis of a full-time working week of 38 hours; you can also save for extra leave, for example by working 40 hours a week, and in this way accrue an extra 96 leave hours, or exchange 96 leave hours for a 36-hour week.
  • Lots of options when it comes to secondary employment conditions; we can, for example, discuss options for a sabbatical or paid parental leave. Within our terms of employment individual choices model, you can exchange leave days and/or salary for benefits such as an advantageous sports subscription or bicycle scheme, and we also offer child-care options;
  • If your work allows it, hybrid working is possible within the Netherlands;

A home-working allowance (day and internet allowance) and attention for good workplaces. The University will also provide you with a laptop.
