How will you contribute?
You will be mainly in charge of:
- Developing thermoplastic elastomer compounds with excellent processability for additive manufacturing
- Compounding thermoplastic composites and blends in internal mixers and twin-screw extruders
- Performing material extrusion additive manufacturing trials of thermoplastic elastomers
- Evaluating the thermal characteristics of thermoplastics by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry
- Studying polymer crystallinity results from X-ray scattering techniques and morphology studies using microscopy
- Evaluating the rheological results of thermoplastic materials
- Evaluating the dimensional accuracy and mechanical performance of 3d printed specimens
- Evaluating the shape memory effect of the developed thermoplastic compounds
- Preparing project deliverables and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and conferences
- Participating in project meetings and international conferences

Education
- PhD degree in Polymer Engineering and Science, Materials Engineering and Science, Mechanical Engineering or related fields
Experience and skills
- Proven professional experience in additive manufacturing of polymer-based materials
- Good knowledge of rheology and thermo-mechanical characterisation of polymers
- Good knowledge of compounding of thermoplastic composites and blends
- Knowledge of 4D printing concepts and techniques
- Team player and good communication skills
Language skills
- Fluency in English both oral and written. Other relevant languages are an asset.
