How will you contribute?

You will be mainly in charge of:

  • Developing thermoplastic elastomer compounds with excellent processability for additive manufacturing
  • Compounding thermoplastic composites and blends in internal mixers and twin-screw extruders
  • Performing material extrusion additive manufacturing trials of thermoplastic elastomers
  • Evaluating the thermal characteristics of thermoplastics by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry
  • Studying polymer crystallinity results from X-ray scattering techniques and morphology studies using microscopy
  • Evaluating the rheological results of thermoplastic materials
  • Evaluating the dimensional accuracy and mechanical performance of 3d printed specimens
  • Evaluating the shape memory effect of the developed thermoplastic compounds
  • Preparing project deliverables and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and conferences
  • Participating in project meetings and international conferences

Education

  • PhD degree in Polymer Engineering and Science, Materials Engineering and Science, Mechanical Engineering or related fields 

Experience and skills

  • Proven professional experience in additive manufacturing of polymer-based materials
  • Good knowledge of rheology and thermo-mechanical characterisation of polymers
  • Good knowledge of compounding of thermoplastic composites and blends
  • Knowledge of 4D printing concepts and techniques
  • Team player and good communication skills 

Language skills

  • Fluency in English both oral and written. Other relevant languages are an asset.
