Context 

In an ever-changing world, where discoveries and technological upheavals in both the applied and fundamental sciences are almost a daily occurrence, one chasing the other, the role of the philosopher of science is essential and necessary. The philosopher's work must shed light on and put into perspective the conclusions of scientific discoveries, what they reveal about our understanding of the World, what they tell us about the interaction between Science and Society, but also by examining the truth of scientific theories (this is the role of the epistemologist) and the impact of putting them into practice (this is the role of the researcher in ethics).

Supervision 

The Assistant Professor will be placed under the supervision of the two co-directors of the ACPPS Research Center, Professor Ali BENMAKHLOUF and Assistant Professor Abdelouahab RGOUD.

Job description:

The ACPPS-UM6P Research Center has an opening for an Assistant Professor position (starting October 2025) in the research field of philosophy and history of sciences. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for coordinating the research project within the research field of contemporary philosophy of science. In coordination with the two co-directors, they will oversee the recruitment of future PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers in their area of expertise, the organization of the center’s scientific events (workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.), and the supervision of researchers under their guidance.

The Assistant Professor must specialize in one or more of the following fields:

-Philosophy/epistemology of contemporary physics

-Philosophy/epistemology of contemporary mathematics

-Philosophy/epistemology of contemporary logic.

-Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

-Ethics

Selection

Applicants send a full CV, a motivation letter (1 page), a sample of academic writing (article, term paper, or chapter of thesis max 30 pages), a research statement (1 to 2 pages), two letters of recommendation, and full transcripts for academic transcripts for their previous studies. The preselected candidates will be contacted and interviewed. 

The work will be carried out within a dynamic group of over ten researchers working on the theme of Arabic classical philosophy and philosophy of sciences. The campus is new, near Marrakech in the city of Ben Guerir, and offers public facilities and accommodation for doctoral students.

Profiles 

Candidates must have a PhD degree. Further helpful factors on candidate CV’s would be a demonstrated ability carry out research, publish articles in international journals, and real world professional experience working on collective intelligence related themes. A post-doctorate position would be appreciated.
