YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

This master’s thesis focuses on the experimental realization and validation of photonics-based techniques to measure rain intensities. Cutting-edge technologies are applied to analyze the effects of the interaction of light with raindrops. The data collected in sets of laboratory experiments will be analyzed to deduce which measurement approaches are most suitable in different environments.

Your responsibilities will involve the following activities:

  • Support setting up optical laboratory experiments for precipitation measurement
  • Support design of validation experiments
  • Perform measurement series
  • Evaluate the acquired data

YOUR PROFILE

  • Master student in Physics or Electrical Engineering
  • Self-organized and target-oriented working style
  • Basic experience with electronic laboratory equipment (e.g., oscilloscope)
  • Basic experience in optical measurements
  • Experience in data processing and evaluation
  • Good knowledge in Python (numpy, matplotlib, pandas, seaborn  ….)
     and version control (git)
  • Good oral and written English skills

IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT SAL

  • Start as soon as possible.
  • Diversified research activities with plenty of technical challenges.
  • State-of-the-art lab facilities and instruments.
