Are you looking to apply your bioinformatic skills to patient single cell data and contribute to science that makes a difference? Then this project is for you!

We are offering a PhD or Postdoc position (f/m/d) in computational biology within the Taschner-Mandl Group, focusing on the analysis of single-cell and multi-omics data from patient samples.  The project aims to uncover the tumor microenvironment and (epi)genetic drivers of neuroblastoma using cutting-edge computational methods. If you are driven by curiosity about biological questions, eager to push the boundaries of what is computationally possible, and want your work grounded in real clinical data, this position is for you!

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and apply bioinformatic approaches for single-cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data analysis and multimodal integration
  • Integrating other omics modalities, e.g. somatic copy number and mutation analysis
  • Collaborate closely with wet-lab team members to interpret omics findings in a translational, clinical context
  • Write manuscripts and present your work at national and international scientific conferences
  • Apply for competitive PhD/Postdoc fellowships as part of your scientific development

Your profile

What you bring for this position: 

  • MSc or PhD degree (completed or near completion) in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, or cancer genomics
  • Experience in NGS data analysis
  • Familiarity with cell biology, cancer biology, or molecular biology concepts
  • Proficiency in R and Python
  • Experience with cancer genomics, single-cell RNA-seq and/or ATAC-seq analysis (strongly preferred)
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
  • A hard-working, well-organized approach to your work, with genuine curiosity and a drive to keep learning
