At the Institute of Applied Synthetic Chemistry, in the Research Group for Sustainable Organic Chemistry and Catalysis TU Wien is offering a position as senior scientist (all genders) limited until expected January, 2028 or for the duration of cover for leave of absence for 40 hours/week. Expected start: September 2026.

Tasks:

  • Research activities in the field of organic photochemical and photoredox catalytic methods as well as radical-based transformation methods
  • Development and implementation of innovative reactor concepts using CAD, 3D printing and modern manfacturing technologies
  • Implementation of digital and automated approaches for data-driven reaction optimization
  • Independent teaching of courses, especially in the field of fundamental and organic chemistry, and holding of examinations as well as supervision of students
  • The ability to develop methods, concepts, as well as their realization and evaluation and the willingness to manage projects and co-supervise working groups
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures of the research division and the faculty

Your profile:

  • Completion of an appropriate doctorate in the field of chemistry or equivalent university studies at home or abroad
  • Knowledge of scientific work as well as excellent specialist knowledge in Knowledge of scientific methods and excellent expertise in asymmetric synthesis, organocatalysis, and photoredox catalysis
  • In-depth knowledge in the field of sustainable chemistry
  • Experience in reactor design using CAD, 3D printing, and modern manufacturing technologies
  • Interdisciplinary work
  • Experience in teaching and publication activities as well as interest and pleasure in research and work/support with students
  • Organisational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working
  • Good German skills (min. C1 - language of instruction), very good knowledge of English (min. C1)

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 5,014.30/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week.
