We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled scientist to join our dynamic research team and contribute to pioneering work in plant molecular biology. This exciting position focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms of selective autophagy and plant responses to abiotic stress. Our goal is to unravel the molecular pathways underlying stress-induced autophagosomes and comprehensively characterize their proteomes, advancing our understanding of plant adaptation mechanisms.
Your Role
The successful candidate will lead and engage in multidisciplinary research employing advanced methodologies, including:
• Protein biochemistry and proteomics.
• Molecular genetics and genome editing.
• Live-cell imaging and cell biology.
While Arabidopsis thaliana and Tobacco will serve as the primary model system, the project also includes translating insights into crop species, bridging fundamental research and practical applications in plant science. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of autophagy research in plants and contribute to impactful discoveries.
What We Offer
• Duration: Up to 3 years.
• Start Date: Position available immediately. Preference will be given to candidates ready to start promptly.
• Funding: Supported by the Belgian Funds for Scientific Research (FRS-FNRS), offering an annual stipend of approximately €50,000, adjusted based on experience.
• Workplace: Join the Louvain Institute of Biomolecular Science and Technology (LIBST) at UCLouvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium—a leading institute in plant and molecular sciences.
What We’re Looking For
• Education: A Ph.D. in a relevant field of biological sciences, awarded within the past 2-3 years.
• Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in plant molecular biology, biochemistry, and proteomics, supported by a strong publication record.
• Technical Skills: Experience in live-cell imaging, protein-protein interaction studies using mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics is highly desirable.
• Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Passion for Research: A genuine interest in plant cell biology, particularly autophagy and stress responses, is essential.
Why Join Us?
• Contribute to groundbreaking research in a stimulating academic environment.
• Collaborate with leading experts in plant biology and molecular sciences.
• Gain experience with state-of-the-art techniques and methodologies.
• Enjoy the vibrant research community and high quality of life in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
How to Apply
Interested candidates are invited to submit their application via email to Prof. Henri Batoko at [email protected]. Please include the following:
1. A comprehensive CV, including a full publication list and a copy of your Ph.D. diploma.
2. A statement detailing your scientific interests and motivation for applying.
3. A description of your research experience and any other relevant achievements.
4. Contact information for at least three references (email and phone number).
Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Early submissions are encouraged.
