Your Responsibilities

  •  Independent research at the interface of affect and emotion research, and social movement and protest research, with a regional focus on Turkey and South-Eastern Europe 
  • Contributing to (externally funded) research projects (grant applications, project management, research, publications) 
  • Establishing and maintaining international academic networks in the field of affect and emotion research
  • Delivering and contributing to courses at the Centre for South-East European Studies, taught in English 
  • Supervising students, in particular MA theses 
  • Designing and organising international academic events (workshops, conferences, lecture series)
  • Contributing to organisational and administrative tasks as well as committee work 

Your Profile

  • Completed doctoral or PhD degree in political science
  •  Proven research expertise at the interface of affect and emotion research, social movement/protest research and Turkish studies, demonstrated by relevant publications 
  •  Proven regional expertise on Turkey and its neighbouring regions in research and publications 
  • Outstanding international publication record; a monograph would be an advantage
  •  Experience of ethnographic fieldwork in Turkey and/or South-Eastern Europe
  •  Experience in applying for funding from competitive national or international funding bodies, preferably the FWF or the EU 
  • Proven experience in establishing and coordinating international academic networks 
  •  Excellent command of English and Turkish, good command of German (spoken and written)
  • Solid teaching experience, ability to design courses independently, and experience in supervising MA-level dissertations 
  • Experience in (co-)leading or coordinating interdisciplinary research consortia or university organisational units (desirable) 
  • Several years’ experience with the structures and processes of the Austrian university system, including committee work and university self-governance (desirable)
  • Ability to work in a team, organisational skills, innovative thinking and the ability to work independently

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 70.200,20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
