The Institute of Economic Research, University of Neuchâtel (IRENE), invites applications for a PhD position in energy and environmental economics. Job description: The objective of the position is to write research papers in applied economics, combining theory and empirical analysis, and ultimately earn a PhD in Economics. The successful candidate will work under the co-supervision of Prof. Mehdi Farsi (IRENE) and Prof. Sylvain Weber (HEG-Geneva). The position involves actively contributing to a research project on energy transition, funded by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy and carried out in partnership with the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES- SO/HEG-Geneva).
While focusing on research and completing the PhD requirements, the successful candidate will provide teaching support at IRENE and participate in the Institute’s activities, including weekly seminars. They will also have the opportunity to attend PhD courses and scientific conferences as part of their doctoral studies.
The gross salary corresponds to 70% of the regulatory doctoral assistant salary at the University of Neuchâtel (annual gross salary of CHF 51,800). Applicant profile: The candidate should hold a Master’s degree in economics and have a good intuition for empirical research. The candidate will demonstrate a potential to produce high-quality research, strong communication skills, and an excellent command of English. Professional experience and knowledge of French and German is a decisive advantage.
