About us

The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.

The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance has over 2,700 students enrolled in four Bachelor's programmes, thirteen Master's programmes, doctoral studies and several continuing education courses. Your role

The selected candidate will participate in the educational activities of the Faculty, providing reliable and high-quality teaching capacity at the bachelor, master and doctoral levels.

The successful candidate must commit to:

  • Lecturing public international law and space law both at the bachelor and master levels of the FDEF, and to ensuring high quality of Space law teaching in the Master in Space, Communication and Media Law

The new assistant professor is expected to closely collaborate with colleagues from the research areas public law and technology law, and to contribute to developing interdisciplinary research with colleagues from the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). The successful candidate will be in a unique position to further develop links with the thriving legal and business community in Luxembourg, focusing on space, international organizations, and related technology domains.

The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate:

  • Strong potential to produce internationally recognized research in Public International Law and Space Law
  • Proven experience in teaching Public International Law
  • A clear interest in developing Space Law into a future research focus aligned with the position
  • A commitment to continuing the legacy of the SES Chair's work, including organizing conferences and managing stakeholder relations in the field of Space Law

The successful candidate will also be willing to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate is expected to be willing to seek external funding from various sources and to be ready to contact and actively engage with other research institutions and industry to establish research cooperations in Luxembourg and beyond.

Your profile

The successful candidate must have:

  • A Master degree and PhD degree in Law
  • Publications in internationally recognized journals
  • Experience and aptitude for teaching and supervising research at the university level
  • Ability and interest in engaging in academic research at the highest level

Language requirements:

The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. The person hired on this position must be proficient in English and either French or German. The University encourages its staff to learn the other language and provides access to language courses to this end.
