Your role

The successful candidate will join the young, vibrant, and interdisciplinary FINATRAX Research Group, which builds bridges between business research and information systems engineering. The group conducts research on the application and the impact of digital technologies like DLT/Blockchain, Digital Identities and Machine Learning/AI on organisations from both the private and public sectors. The group consists of doctoral and post-doctoral researchers from diverse backgrounds, including business, technology, law, and psychology. The candidate will be funded through an industry partnership with Luxembourgish Leader Energy Group, as well as other industry partnerships or public research projects. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, exploring the design, implementation and instantiation of Data Anonymization and Synthetic Data Generation techniques and their implications on privacy and security, as well as other technical, organizational, and regulatory aspects. The candidate would perform, among others, the following tasks:

  • Carry out research in the field of Data Anonymization and Synthetic Data Generation, such as:
    • Research state-of-the-art anonymization techniques
    • Analyze and assess risks of de-anonymization, including researching current de-anonymization strategies
    • Investigate synthetic data generation methods and their utility
    • Deploying and benchmarking the above-mentioned methods
  • Provide guidance to PhD students
  • Disseminate results through scientific publications
  • Prepare research proposals to attract industry partnerships as well as national and European grant projects 
  • Manage research projects and prepare project deliverables 
  • Provide guidance to Master students and PhD students who submit work to conferences or journals

Your profile

  • PhD degree in Information Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience with interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, or transdisciplinary research projects and related research methods (e.g., design science research)
  • Experience in publishing high-quality research, as demonstrated by research under review or published in 1stquartile conferences and journals (according to Scopus)
  • Experience in research supervision
  • A collaborative team player with a desire to make a personal impact within our interdisciplinary research group 
  • The commitment to participate in the design, implementation, and theoretical elaboration of high-quality solutions that solve significant problems
  • Self-initiative, creativity, curiosity, flexibility and enthusiasm to work
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Knowledge of French, German, and Luxembourgish is not required
