Your role

The SigCom research group at SnT, led by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas, focuses on wireless and satellite communications for future 6G networks. Research includes security, IoT, unmanned aerial vehicles, integrated satellite-terrestrial networks, quantum communications, spectrum management, tactile internet, earth observation, and autonomous transportation. We leverage advanced technologies like semantic data processing, signal processing, and network resource management to enhance performance. To optimize and analyze complex 6G networks, we use AI/ML, graph theory, and optimization techniques

Furthermore, our activities are experimentally driven and supported by the COMMLab, the 6GSPACE Lab, the CSATLab, the HybridNetLab, the QCILab, our SW Simulators, and our Facilities. For further information, you may refer to https://www.uni.lu/snt-en/research-groups/sigcom/.

You will be required to perform the following tasks:

  • Carrying out research in the predefined areas.
  • Disseminating results through scientific publications.
  • Implement and open-source proof-of-concept software tools.
  • Collaborate with other researchers of different projects and disseminate the outputs at conferences, workshops organized by the consortium.
  • Disseminate results through scientific publications.
  • Present results in well-known international conferences and workshops
  • Participating in outreach events related to antenna design, channel modeling, FPGA's programming, and satellite communication, inspiring young generations to be interested in related topics.
  • Design phased array design using sparse lattices,
  • Design of Reflective Intelligent surfaces,
  • Design of advanced radome solutions using artificial dieletrics.
  • Knowledge and assistance on D2V, D2D, RIS-assisted NTN

Your profile

  • Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Telecommunications and Computer Science
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required
  • Prior experience in data-driven innovation projects and research publications in high-ranking journals or international conferences is an asset
  • Curiosity-driven and eager to continuously learn new concepts

Knowledge and/or experience in several of the following topics:

  • Antenna Design: Strong background on antenna design focused on phased arrays and radome design
  • Mathematical Tools: The candidate should have knowledge in the following tools used for the analysis and synthesis of antennas:
    • CST Microwave Studio
    • OpenEMS (free and open electromagnetic field solver using the FDTD method)
    • Matlab
  • Convex/non-convex optimization (Mandatory)
  • Signal processing
  • Computational electromagnetics focused on time domain algorithms (Mandatory)
  • Programming skills in MATLAB (Mandatory)
  • Good oral presentation skills: The candidate will be required to present and defend his/her work in front of wide audience of experts
