The Tübingen Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital are part of the University of Excellence Tübingen. They provide medical services at the highest level and cover the entire spectrum of modern medicine, research, teaching and clinical care.
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tübingen invites applications at the University Clinic for Medicine, Internal Medicine III, for a
available by 1 April 2028. The position will be filled on a salaried basis unless the successful applicant is already a civil servant (Beamtenstatus).
The professorship is linked with the medical directorship of the Department Internal Medicine III within the University Clinic for Medicine (Department for Internal Medicine). The professorship will scientifically, clinically and economically represent the subject cardiology in research, teaching and patient care.
The interdisciplinary and collegial cooperation with the Department for Internal Medicine, both with respect to joint research projects as well as in the context of patient care, is a central focus of the successful appointment. Moreover, close collaboration with the partner clinics in the area of cardiovascular disease (cardiac surgery, pediatric cardiology and cardiac pathology) as well as cooperation with the Center for Congenital Heart Defects are expected. This requires mastery of all common interventional procedures. Rhythmology and heart failure therapy are also clinical focal points of the department.
Furthermore, collaboration with the German Center for Diabetes Research, the Center for Interdisciplinary Rheumatology (INDIRA), and the Center for Neurovascular Diseases is expected. Another important focus is interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of prevention.

The successful candidate should be internationally recognized in their area of expertise through competitive, innovative research, corresponding high-level publications, and extensive third-party funding.
In the area of teaching, extensive and outstanding teaching experience and commitment are expected, particularly with regard to innovative curricula in the degree programs of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as active participation in lectures and other teaching formats, taking into account modern, practice-oriented teaching concepts. The teaching load is 9 semester hours per week.
Furthermore, the successful candidate should have several years of proven leadership and management experience, particularly in the context of the business management of a clinic or clinical department.
Requirements for appointment are a license to practice medicine, a specialist qualification in internal medicine and cardiology obtained in Germany or an international equivalent thereof recognized as equivalent by the Baden-Württemberg Medical Association. Furthermore, the prerequisites to obtain the education authorization in cardiology are expected as well as postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
