The population is at the centre of our research. As an epidemiological research institute, our aim is to identify causes of health problems as well as to develop new concepts for disease prevention. Our research provides a basis for societal decisions. It informs the general population about health risks and contributes towards a healthy living environment.

Independent and free research practices are the underlying principles of our studies. Our mission includes the commitment to adhere to the regulations of good epidemiological practice. A special challenge is dealing with issues of conflicts of interest. To this end, BIPS has developed basic principles which are documented in a Policy-Statement.
