Faculty of engineering strives for core values within Linnaeus University, attractive cutting-edge research environments, to be integrated and active within the society and embracing global values. The Faculty of engineering consists of nine departments covering different disciplines within technology, where Linnaeus University conducts education and research.
The department of mechanical engineering has two programs at Bachelor level, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering, and one program at master level, simulation driven product development. An additional master program in industrial engineering is currently under development. Furthermore, the department has a PhD program in mechanical engineering. The department is part of the research environment advanced materials which has a focus on challenges related to sustainable production within a broad perspective which include a life cycle perspective, product development, manufacturing, operation and maintenance, and reuse of products, components and materials.
The department of mechanical engineering is currently carrying out research within areas such as engineering mechanics and structural dynamics, operation and maintenance of machines and systems, and production with subjects closely related to industrial engineering. Research is carried out in close collaboration with other departments, universities and industry.

As senior lecturer you will primarily be working with teaching and research within the area of industrial engineering, with a specific focus towards manufacturing industry. Examples of subject areas include, but are not limited to, operations research, supply chain, material production planning and control, production systems, production economy, simulation of production systems, industrial organization, but also other areas connected to industrial engineering can be relevant for the position. The position should reflect modern thinking within the area connected to manufacturing industry in theory as well as a practical implementation.
Within the position a minimum of 20% time for research is included, and if additional funding can be acquired, this part can be increased. Teaching consists of courses on under graduate as well as graduate level, and courses given at the campus or distant based courses. In addition, the work can include development of courses, supervision of degree projects, and support supervision of PhD students.
An important part for the Department and Linnaeus University is to develop and strengthen cooperation between the university, industry and regional society. In this context, the work can include development of courses, applied projects or academic administrative services within the university to support such actions.
To be qualified as an assistant professor, the applicant must be able to demonstrate both scientific and pedagogic qualification at a high level. (HF 4 kap 3 §)
A requirement for the position is a PhD which is relevant for the subject, and demonstrated scientific qualification through independent active research within the subject area.
The pedagogical qualification should be demonstrated by teaching at bachelor as well as advanced level. This relates to planning, execution and evaluation of different parts of teaching, supervision and examination.
Criteria for assessing applicants for the position as senior lecturer, are based on the level of qualification which is required for the position.
At assessing the scientific qualification, the scientific quality should be the primary aspect. The applicant will be assessed based upon the following qualifications:
The pedagogical qualification should be at a high level and be shown by teaching at bachelor and advanced level. The pedagogical qualification can be demonstrated by documented experience, pedagogical qualification and work experience, and pedagogical reflection and statement.
The assessment of the pedagogical qualification should be equal as the assessment of the scientific assessment. As the department put an emphasize on collaboration with industry, which relates to both research and education, the ability for such collaboration is important. Meritorious for the position is also shown administrative skill, for example demonstrated through academic assignments of significance and industrial experience related to the subject for the position.
Ability to teach in English is a requirement, and in Swedish desirable. The applicant without prior knowledge in Swedish is expected to be able to use Swedish in teaching situation within two years.
